October 6, 2021

The PUZZLE X™ initiative is a vibrant global event + a 365-day Deep Tech venture builder dedicated to enabling materials of the future to help our world today. At the leading-edge of science and technology, it is an interception point and a collision ground for science, business, venture and societal impact. It brings Frontier Materials to the forefront to aid the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations by 2030. To that end, MATERPLAT, the Advanced Materials and Nanomaterials Spanish Technological Platform, which aims at gathering all the Spanish stakeholders working at the forefront of Materials Science and Engineering, will join forces with the inaugural PUZZLE X event taking place 16-18 November in Barcelona.

MATERPLAT is a transversal and industry driven technological platform coordinated by the IMDEA Materials Institute, and it gathers 242 Spanish entities developing and implementing advanced materials and nanomaterials. MATERPLAT is committed to foster collaboration and innovation to tackle the challenges of society and fostering sustainable development

Dr. Eduardo Troche, Head of Technology Transfer and Innovation Office of IMDEA and Manager of MATERPLAT, says that the partnership reflects “MATERPLAT’s priority to support initiatives addressing some of the most pressing problems in society with the vision of transferring fundamental and applied material science knowledge into impactful technology”.

Dr. Zina Jarrahi Cinker, Director General of AMPT, said that: "this partnership is another step for PUZZLE X to create an international ecosystem that connects startups, research institutes and business hubs to drive innovation and expedite the commercialisation of next-gen technologies for a better world.”
